Some information
The Ford Taunus was a car made in germany between 1971 and 1975. It replaced the Taunus 15M in Fords model program. The car was in all major respects the same car as the Cortina MKIII. The two cars differed mainly in the design while they where machanicly the same car. The Taunus was in Sweden available with four engines, the 1600 (72bhp & GT 88bhp) and 2000 (99bhp) OHC engines also called "PINTO" and the 2000 (90bhp) and 2300 (108bhp) V6 engines. The Taunus came in 3 different shapes, sedan, coupe and estate versions. The taunus had a facelift in 1974 wich meant an introduction of a plastic grille instead of the aluminium one, a new modifed interior including a new instrument panel and high backs on the front chairs, the decoration list on the side was moved down about 2 decimeters and broadend.

The blue one is still in my posession and awaits restoration but the red one was sold many years ago and is I belive dead and gone. It was rapidly degenerated after I sold it and ended up in the scrapyard a few years after i sold it. The model that I like the best is the early GXL models and for me and my brother a REAL GXL has a V6 engine. A PINTO propelled 'GXL' is not the genuine article in my eyes.
